- Our project aim is to create a dissemination tool, a European Directory for the entire DAPHNE community. This is not only an IT project; it is the use of information technology as the best suited to disseminate the project results. What we are proposing is to create a directory of contacts to be accessible via the Web, of the DAPHNE community, to include project leaders, project partners, all key institutional contacts in the EU27 (Ministries of Justice, Ministries in charge of equality, etc.), major national associations and organisations in charge of the prevention of violence towards children/adolescents/women, large national NGOs.
- The Daphne Directory will be used at three key moments in the life of a project:
1) At the start of a project to find partners and collaborators in the field of interest;
2) As the project evolves for dissemination of project results, the project leader can query the directory to create a unique list of dissemination contacts; and
3) Other uses include contacts for press releases and DAPHNE announcements regarding the program, or as a contact database for electronic mailings.
From 1997 to 2005 more than 500 projects were funded and documented in the DAPHNE Toolkit. This Web module from the DG JLS was created to share project experiences, by providing for each project a project description, the partner contact information, a summary of the final report or a summary of results. Yet each project leaders is responsible for the project dissemination, and many have no training in dissemination of results, nor have the resources needed to do so. Repeatedly, project leaders struggle with the task of dissemination, which is a crucial component of the success of projects, and is often insufficiently developed in the evaluation of DAPHNE proposed projects. That is the reason why we propose to create and make accessible a shared tool for dissemination: an « intelligent » directory of contact information for all DAPHNE actors. This tool may also be used when DAPHNE actors are asked about a specific topic, from other organisations in the EU working on violence prevention or by journalists of large, national newspapers.
This project is cross-cutting to enhance the value of the DAPHNE program regarding dissemination and networking, to extend the project results beyond the life of the projects.
